It is the most spectacular canyon in Europe and it is also one of the deepest: while driving down the eastern coast of Sardinia, you really must stop to visit it. Gorropu (or Gorroppu) is a gorge, created from erosion and located in the Supramonte area, between the territories of Orgosolo (Nuoro) and Urzulei (Ogliastra). It has been shaped over time by the force of the Rio Flumineddu rivulet that flows along its bed, at a depth of 500 metres.

Medium difficulty excursion, suggestive and singular for its botanical-naturalistic aspect. You can walk for about six hours along the first part, along an old coal road, and then, inside the canyon, passing smooth stones worked by the water. It is recommended to have long pants, a hiking shoe and a backpack for a packed lunch with a water bottle of at least two liters of water; on very hot days it is good to bring a cap or a bandana; who would like to bring home an excellent souvenir of the day, a camera, a camera and binoculars.

We recommend that you do not venture alone, do not pass the guide, always follow the path and do not overlook the cliffs, do not ruin the plants by tearing off twigs or leaves and do not disturb the animals in the area. Furthermore, for a successful excursion it is good to inform the drivers, companions or guides about any health problem.
